a year in the life of a gumdrop

so I decided to be productive with my downtime at work. very recently, I came across an illustrator's work that I really liked. so, in his honor, I created similarly styled illustrations for a calendar. I like to call it "a year in the life of a gumdrop." included in this blog entry are some of my illustrations from the calendar (in order) : march, april, july, may and october. enjoy! :)

I decided to test out a new illustration style. I am interested in retro-style animation and illustration; i.e., James Flora, the end credits in Ratatouille, the beginning credits in Monsters', Inc., Golden Book illustrations, 60's era record album covers and ads... There is something really unique about the retro-esque, "Jetson's era" illustrations.
